Yellowstone’s Kevin Costner Makes Rare Divorce Comment About Ex-Wife Christine Baumgartner

Kevin Costner has recently opened up about his divorce from Christine Baumgartner, offering rare insights into their separation and its impact on their family. Speaking to People, the Yellowstone star shared that despite their efforts, the couple, who had been married since 2004, “just weren’t able to go the distance.” However, he expressed gratitude for Baumgartner, acknowledging her as a “good partner [and] good mother.”

The pair, who share three children, settled their divorce earlier this year. Costner emphasized that his primary focus is on supporting their children, stating, “You just keep talking, you keep coaching [the kids], you keep interested in what they’re interested in.” Reflecting on his first divorce from Cindy Silva in 1994, he noted how difficult it was navigating such transitions as a father, acknowledging the recurring challenges of balancing personal relationships and family responsibilities.

Costner also addressed the demanding schedule surrounding his new project, Horizon: An American Saga. He admitted that his commitments to the multi-part film left him with limited capacity to manage his personal life, saying, “There was just nothing [he] could do.”

In a related note, Costner discussed casting his son Hayes in Horizon. He explained his hesitation to give acting roles to his children, citing the competitive nature of the industry, but saw this as an opportunity to keep his family close while working on the project. Hayes’s role was brief, and Costner praised his performance, describing his son as “beautiful in the movie.”

These revelations shed light on the actor’s efforts to maintain balance amidst significant life changes, prioritizing his family while navigating the demands of his career.
