Kevin Costner revealed in 2024: “I would like to do it”

The series ‘Yellowstone’ ended in December 2024 on Paramount+ with the broadcast of a fifth season split into two parts. In the UK, this installment also arrived on Netflix, SkyShowtime and Movistar Plus+ in 2022. The first of these premiered in November of that year when Costner played John Dutton, while in the second he was no longer present as the character ended up dying, so the series seemed to be completely over. All fans wondered if there would have been a sixth season had the 70-year-old actor not left. Paramount announced the arrival of the fifth installment of episodes in November 2022 without saying that it would be the last, something that did end up happening. Kevin Costner has spoken about all of this.

According to rumors, the series could have continued, something that the protagonist himself corroborated in statements to Entertainment Tonight at a CinemaCon event in Las Vegas a few months ago, in April 2024:“I thought I was going to do seven seasons and we’re currently on five,” he said. “I hope so, but they’re doing a lot of series right now. Maybe it will work. Maybe this will bring it back to me. If it does and I’m comfortable with it, I’d like to do it.”

Ultimately, the decision to split the fifth season of ‘Yellowstone’ in two and Costner’s full dedication to the film ‘Horizon’ meant that the series did not continue.
