He’s been chasing the cowboy dream since he was a little boy.

Happy Birthday, Kevin Costner! The storied actor celebrated his 70th birthday on Saturday, January 18, with fans sending him well wishes from all over the world. To commemorate his big day—and to offer his followers a peek into his real life—Kevin earmarked the day with a childhood photo on Instagram.

Thank you guys for the birthday wishes,” he captioned the post. “If you can believe it, this is me. I was chasing the cowboy life just about as soon as I could walk, and here I am doing it still. Here’s to another year of keeping our sights set on our dreams.”

Throughout his nearly 50-year career, Kevin has fulfilled many Western roles, including on Yellowstone and Horizon: An American Saga, and in Dances With Wolves, Silverado, Open Range, and Let Him Go. And, in the process, he’s amassed a loyal fan base that can’t help but love him (even with his Yellowstone departurefresh on everyone’s minds).
