“‘Yellowstone’ to Continue Without Kevin Costner; Remaining Cast Set to Return”
Kevin Costner may have underestimated the staying power of “Yellowstone.” He left the hit series to focus on his “Horizon” movies, expecting the show would falter without him. However, as I previously noted, “Yellowstone” is set to continue even in his absence, a fact now confirmed by the Puck newsletter.
Meanwhile, “Horizon” has not lived up to expectations. With the first film struggling at the box office, Warner Bros. is likely to release the second installment directly to streaming. The third and fourth films, which are not in high demand, seem unlikely to move forward.
Sources indicate that Kevin Costner’s character, John Dutton, will be written out through a murder mystery in the upcoming season. Given that Dutton was a divisive figure, it makes sense to set up a scenario where multiple characters are suspects. Taylor Sheridan is expected to introduce a new, high-profile character to fill the void left by Costner, keeping the show’s appeal strong.
“Yellowstone” is a major brand with a dedicated viewership. Paramount and Sheridan have too much invested to let it end now. Expect the series to regain momentum; ensemble dramas often thrive through such transitions.
